Soil Sampling Using the Geoprobe® Soil Probing Tool Geoprobe soil probes used for sampling

The Geoprobe® units are primarily used for the recovery of discrete subsurface soil samples at a prescribed depth. In certain circumstances they are also used for continuous sampling. The standard Geoprobe® probe sample recovers a 22-inch long, 1.06-inch diameter core with a maximum sample volume of 320 ml. There is also a Macro-Core probe sampler capable of recovering a volume of 1300 ml in the form of a 45-inch long, 1.5-inch diameter core.

The tool is advanced, and a sample is acquired in a non-reactive plastic sheathing.

The system offers two sizes of sample retrieval: large bore (1.5" x 2') or macro (2.25" x 2', 3' & 4').
