MTA CQ-031, East Side Access, Long Island City, NY

The East Side Access project will connect the Long Island Rail Road's (LIRR) Main and Port Washington lines in Queens to a new LIRR terminal beneath Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan. The new connection will increase the LIRR's capacity into Manhattan, and dramatically shorten travel time for Long Island and eastern Queens commuters traveling to the east side of Manhattan.

Impact Environmental is the Environmental Coordinator for the Queens Launch Tunnel Project being performed at the MTA North Yard and Amtrak Sunnyside Yard. The project involves consulting on groundwater dewatering issues and off-site soil management. Impact Environmental will be removing over 600,000 cubic yards of material to address the project demands. This project blends the firms two principal areas of business consulting and contracting. The project is expected to be performed over a 18-month period.
