E-Designations
Along with the Restrictive Declaration Environmental Review Program, these environmental programs are designed to ensure that rezoning actions by governmental agencies avoid significant adverse impacts to human health or the environment. The impacts to be avoided may come through exposure to potential hazardous materials, unwanted sound on sensitive noise receptors, or mobile or stationary pollutants in ambient air.
An E-Designation is a NYC zoning map designation that indicates the presence of an environmental requirement pertaining to potential Hazardous Materials Contamination, Window/Wall Noise Attenuation, or Air Quality impacts on a particular tax lot. E-Designations are established on the Zoning Map by the Department of City Planning (DCP) and City Council as a part of a zoning change/action.
